Trip Introduction
Pokalde (5806m) as a group B Climbing Peak, you can walk up to the top of Pokalde without any climbing gears like crampons and ice-axes, with just the assistance of ropes near the top. Once you reach its base camp, you need to go up for only about 650 meters. And the only challenges you encounter are the sections of loose rocks, which do not even require the assistance of ropes for the people with some mountaineering experience. However, its exposed terrains mean that you should not try climbing it in bad weather.
Standing in Khumbu region at some 12 kilometers southwestern direction from Mount Everest, Pokalde, also known as Dolma Ri, provides really extraordinary mountain spectacle from the summit. Mt Makalu, Ama Dablam, and Pumori rise in prominent view from the summit, along with a vast mountain vista of Khumbu region to be had from its top. Besides, you can include all the central attractions ofEverest Treks as you go up to climb the peak and return after its ascent.
First ascended in 1953, Pokalde Ascent fulfills your amateur mountaineering desires, taking you above the normal experience of mountain treks and below the technically equipped, skill-and-effort demanding climbing expeditions. The base camp for the peak is established at the valley below the Kongma La Pass (5,535m), which has a turquoise glacial lake in the middle. For the final ascent, you can reach the pass and follow the ridge (the route of the first ascent). Or you can move to the opposite side of the mountain facing Mt Makalu and proceed towards the top, as most climbers do nowadays.
The following itinerary, consisting of many side trips and detours, combines all the fabulous locations and vantage points of Everest region in a single route. If you have enough time, follow this to make the best of your vacation, as you will traverse the entire Everest Base Camp trekking trail with Kalapathar, Gokyo, a climb of Gokyo Peak, as well as Chola Pass. Together they make up a trail with dazzling adventure, with icing on the cake provided by Pokalde Climb. If you are short of time and energy to have all of it, we will customize the itinerary as per your needs
